Itinerary
Day 1
Gallipoli Battlefields & Memorials
The meeting point for this tour is at Istanbul's Port Bosphorus Hotel between 8:00 and 8:15. Leaving the city, we visit the First World War battlefields of Gallipoli – Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair memorials, ANZAC Cove, The Nek and Johnston’s Jolly – and walk among original trenches and tunnels. After touring the battlefields and memorials, we head to Canakkale for the night.
Day 2
Troy, Pergamon & Kusadasi
We depart Çanakkale for Troy to explore the ancient city – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and the new, award winning Troy Museum. We then travel to Bergama to visit the Acropolis of Pergamon, once a major cultural and political centre, before heading south to Kuşadası.
Day 3
Exploring Ephesus
We delve into history with a guided tour of Ephesus, visit the site of the Temple of Artemis and absorb the atmosphere of the ancient city and theatre before exploring the Ephesus Archaeology Museum, home to an impressive collection of artefacts. At a carpet village we learn how handwoven carpets are made and what determines their value.
Day 4
Pamukkale & Hierapolis
This morning we enjoy a display of locally handcrafted leather goods, then head to Pamukkale’s brilliant white travertine terraces and tour the ancient city of Hierapolis. You can take a dip among ancient columns in thermal pools once used in Roman times for their therapeutic qualities.
Day 5
Fly to Istanbul
Today we transfer you to the airport for your included flight to Istanbul, where the tour concludes.
